Hi, this is Vanessa, your ENLIGHTENMENT salon host.
Traveling the world is my passion, but these days it feels more like a guilty pleasure. With air travel emitting greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, popular cities like Amsterdam and Barcelona stating they’re fed up with tourists, and Airbnb cited as a big reason why affordable housing is scarce, maybe it’s best just to stay home?
However, travel offers so many benefits: personal growth, less stress, improved mental health and expanded cultural understanding. And for so many places around the world, it’s an economic driver that creates well-paying jobs and crucial tax revenue.
So how can we enjoy travel while leaving a small footprint in the places we visit?
That is what May’s Philosophy Café is about: Discussing the value, the ethics and the sustainable of modern travel. And make the most from trips that enrich our minds and souls, while ensuring they’re low impact and eco-friendly.
Join me for a discussion with philosophic-minded travelers about how to view travel from different perspectives, and find new ways to travel that still have a great impact on you and less of a bad impact on the planet.
